Barra
The Island of Barra is one of the Gaelic-speaking islands in the Outer Hebrides. Apart from the adjacent island of Vatersay it is the southernmost inhabited island of the Outer Hebrides. |
Benbecula
Benbecula lies between the islands of North Uist and South Uist, to which it is connected by road causeways. |
Island of Bernaray
Berneray is an island in the Sound of Harris. It is one of fifteen inhabited islands in the Outer Hebrides. It is famed for its rich and colourful history which has attracted much tourism. |
South Uist
The island of South Uist lies between the islands of North Uist, to which it is connected to by road causeways and the island of Barra. Connection to Barra is by air or ferry. |
North Uist
North Uist is the tenth largest Scottish island and the thirteenth largest island surrounding Great Britain.Slightly smaller than South Uist. North Uist is connected by causeways to Benbecula via Grimsay, to Berneray, and to Baleshare. Some of the lochs contain a mixture of fresh and tidal salt water, giving rise to some complex and unusual habitats. |
Isle of Skye
Skye, or the Isle of Skye is the largest and most northerly island in the Inner Hebrides of Scotland. The island's peninsulas radiate out from a mountainous centre dominated by the Cuillin hills. The island is now linked to the mainland by a road bridge although it is still possible to travel from the mainland by ferry. The island is renowned for its spectacular scenery, vibrant culture and heritage, and its abundant wildlife including the Golden Eagle, Red Deer and Salmon. |
Renfrewshire
Renfrewshire is one of 32 council areas used for local government in Scotland. It is one of three council areas contained within the boundaries of the historic Renfrewshire, also known as the County of Renfrew or Greater Renfrewshire, the other two being Inverclyde to the west and East Renfrewshire to the east. |

Eriskay
A stone causeway from Ludag now links South Uist to the island of Eriskay. Bonnie Prince Charlie's Bay is a gorgeous sandy beach. The S.S. Politician sank in the Sound of Eriskay in 1941 and its cargo of whisky bottles was 'rescued' by the islanders This true story was later turned into a book by Compton MacKenzie 'Whisky Galore' and a film which was shot mainly on Barra. |
Dumbarton
Dumbarton is a town and burgh which is the administrative centre of the council area of West Dunbartonshire, and formerly of the historic county of Dunbartonshire, in the West-Central Lowlands of Scotland. The town lies on the north bank of the River Clyde where the River Leven flows into the Clyde estuary. |
Harris
Harris (Gaelic: Na Hearadh) is the southern and more mountainous part of Lewis and Harris, the largest island in the Outer Hebrides. Although not an island itself, Harris is often referred to as the Isle of Harris. A person from Harris is known as a Hearach. |
Highland
The Scottish Highlands (Scottish Gaelic: A' Ghàidhealtachd meaning Land of the Gaels) is a historic region of Scotland. The term is used for the area north and west of the Highland Boundary Fault, although the exact boundaries are not clearly defined, particularly to the east. The Great Glen divides the Grampian Mountains to the southeast from the Northwest Highlands. The Scottish Gaelic name of A' Ghàidhealtachd literally means 'the place of the Gaels' and traditionally, from a Gaelic-speaking point of view, includes both the Western Isles and the Highlands. |
Rome
